Typical Case of Harmonic Management in Communication Equipment Room II: (Shanxi Changzhi Telecom) Project Background: In communication equipment rooms, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) has become an indispensable device. The UPS can provide high-quality power with high voltage regulation accuracy, stable frequency, and low waveform distortion to the load. Additionally, it can ensure uninterrupted power supply during static bypass switching. However, since the UPS is a nonlinear load, it generates a large amount of current harmonics, which not only causes harmonic pollution to the power grid but also affects other sensitive equipment in the equipment room, causing significant interference or even harm to the communication system. Therefore, all communication equipment rooms must address the issue of harmonic management.

Project Background:
In communication machine rooms, UPS has become an indispensable device. Moreover, it can ensure uninterrupted power supply during static bypass switching. Therefore, all communication machine rooms must face the issue of harmonic treatment.
Treatment Plan:
Based on the on-site working conditions and measurement results, it was found that harmonics are mainly generated by UPS and some nonlinear DC power supplies. According to a mature and complete set of harmonic treatment solutions, we use the parallel active power filter independently developed and produced by our company to automatically track and treat the harmonic current generated by the load, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the entire system.

As can be seen from the figure, the compensation effect is very significant, with the power factor compensated to 0.99; the total harmonic content decreased from 23.4% before compensation to 6.2% after compensation, and the waveform of the current has improved significantly, very close to a sine wave.
